Another new Leicester City signing is expected at King Power Stadium. Meanwhile, Foxes boss Enzo Maresca explains why transfers take so long to complete.

Apparently Issahaku Fatawu will be a Fox in only matter of time. It’s a done deal, if reports are accurate. The versatile winger and attacking midfielder missed training with his current club, Sporting Lisbon, on Friday. In addition to that, he has supposedly been given permission to travel to England for an LCFC medical.

The switch is a loan; Leicester will cover 100 percent of Issahaku’s wages. Moreover, the east Midlands side will have an option to buy at the end of the season for approximately €15 million.

Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca explains why Foxes transfers are taking a long time to complete

Leicester did make early, sufficient and fan-pleasing transfers this summer. With the slightly later but certainly marquee addition of Akgun – especially for a Championship team – the squad is starting to feel rounded, even complete. But the Foxes aren’t done with deals, even if some are taking longer, even pushing the time limits of September 1. Essentially, Maresca said that in order to get more signings through the door, LCFC must first offload unwanted athletes from their roster. More purchases won’t transpire until they go.

In addition to this insight from the former Manchester City coach, it is well-known that the King Power club are tough negotiators. Very tough. In fact, some of these tactics are coming back to bite the Leicestershire side in my opinion. Reputations carry and sore feelings from past unfair-seeming agreements are not forgotten by rival teams.

Leicester Mercury writer Jordan Blackwell has suggested on multiple occasions that LCFC might have to soften their approach to deals. This is presumably in order for the Foxes be respected again by other clubs. Not to mention actually being able to offload unwanted assets.
