Leicester playing dangerous game with Iheanacho and others
Leicester City are playing a dangerous game with striker Kelechi Iheanacho along with others, and with transfer time running out.
Iheanacho fits Enzo Maresca’s system and is becoming the first-choice Foxes striker. But the Nigerian’s status with the King Power club could be described as precarious. The former refused to confirm if any of his stars will definitely still be with them by September 1.
As with other members of Maresca’s starting lineup, Iheanacho is integral despite having only one year left on his contract. If Leicester were to receive an offer they couldn’t refuse for the centreforward, they may be in trouble with time elapsing for a replacement.
Leicester City and Belgium defender Timothy Castagne closes in on Foxes exit, suggests report
Castagne is closing on the departure that he’s been hoping for. I am not critical of a player who wants to be at the top level. But using any means necessary is not the best or most respectful way to leave. However, having any athlete on a club’s roster who doesn’t want to be there is never a good thing. In fact, there is a chance of unhappy footballers bringing the mood or contentment of a side down in general through subversive behaviour or general discontent.
When James Justin is deemed fit enough to start, which he should at some point, things change again. Castagne certainly wouldn’t be in the team in that scenario, as Ricardo is also a superior fullback and is also used in the inverted midfield role. I see Justin as a preferable option at full fitness, too. Irrespective of my view, the Belgian is going anyway.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Castagne nears a move to Premier League outfit Fulham. I am sure that the latter will be a decent understudy to Antonee Robinson and Tete, if called upon. The two clubs are discussing the final details.
