Leicester City will travel to Prenton Park to face Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday, in the second round of the Carabao Cup. Here is Foxes of Leicester’s predicted XI.

The Foxes have made a perfect start to their Championship season, recording a 100% record against every team they’ve played so far. A 2-1 win over Cardiff and Rotherham helped City to create history, as it was the first time the club have won the first five competitive games. City are currently the only other team besides Manchester City to retain a 100% record.

The Rovers have only won one game in League Two, so far, after they beat Harrogate Town 3-0. Tranmere have since lost 4-3 to Salford City and 2-1 at Notts County. In the first round of the Carabao cup they narrowly beat Barnsley on penalties, but will be hoping to progress in the competition with a win against Leicester. Tranmere also prepare to face Wrexham on Saturday, so could rest some of their key players as they hope to claim their second win of the season.

Leicester City Predicted XI

Here is our starting XI to face Tranmere Rovers:

Jakub Stolarczyk, James Justin, Wout Faes, Callum Doyle, Wanya Marcal-Madivadua, Hamza Choudhury, Harry Winks, Marc Albrighton, Cesare Casadei, Dennis Praet, Kelechi Iheanacho

As this is a cup game we will more than likely see a different side, Leicester also play Hull on Saturday, so it’s certain we will see a ‘B team’ with some first team players involved. I think Enzo Maresca will play the same formation as Leicester did against Burton with two players in behind the striker.

I’ve chosen Stolarczyk in goal because he kept a clean sheet against Burton Albion and Huddersfield whilst also having good performances against both sides. The Polish goalkeeper has earnt a place in the starting XI and it’s almost certain that Hermansen will be rested especially after he’s recently come back from an injury. I think Maresca will play the same back three as he did against Burton as they kept a clean sheet and he’ll want to give Justin some minutes.

Moving onto the midfield I think Marcal-Madivadua will play on the wing after not being involved in the Rotherham game with Albrighton playing on the other side. To tighten up the middle will be Choudhury and Winks with Praet and Casedei playing in behind Iheanacho. If Praet isn’t fit then Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could take his spot in the side.

I think new signing Yunus Akgun will come on later in the game, potentially after 60 minutes to get him some game time. I would’ve placed Wilfred Ndidi up with Praet, but with rumours of him making a move to Nottingham Forest I doubt the Nigerian midfielder will feature in the Leicester City squad.

I’ve picked Iheanacho to lead the line as he scored against Burton Albion in the First round of the EFL cup and is on better form than Jamie Vardy. Patson Daka looks to be making a move away from LCFC and it’s unlikely he’ll be involved in this fixture. The Nigerian striker holds the ball and creates space to allow his teammates to move forward with the ball and create goal-scoring opportunities.
