In a Leicester City press conference, Enzo Maresca stated that Dennis Praet is set to miss an extended amount of time with a back injury. This injury is likely to keep him out between 10-12 weeks. This is a big blow to Maresca and his plans as Praet made appearances in The Foxes first three games of the season. However, he hasn’t appeared since the injury.

This season was the Belgian’s opportunity to firmly cement himself in the East Midlands team rotation consistently. Praet joined Leicester in 2019 where he made 27 Premier League appearances. He only made 15 the following season before being sent out on a loan deal to Torino. He then made 22 Premier League appearances last season where he scored one goal and assisted none.

The injury bug has been following the 29-year-old ever since he first walked into King Power Stadium. Not including this back injury, Praet has suffered nine injuries that have kept him out of action for 217 days. This potential three month injury will not be a good look for the Belgian.

For some more positive news, Conor Coady is close to returning from his injury he suffered in Pre-season. Maresca believes that after the international break, Coady will return to training where they will then monitor his return into the squad day by day.

Despite not playing in a Championship game yet, the Italian manager has been delighted with Coady’s leadership and dedication. Even though the 30-year-old has been out with injury, he has always been with the squad. He’s been there at home games, away games, and training sessions. Maresca stated in the press conference that Coady has showcased exactly what he is in terms of leadership.
