SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND – SEPTEMBER 15: Callum Doyle of Leicester City controls the ball during the Sky Bet Championship match between Southampton FC and Leicester City at Friends Provident St. Mary’s Stadium on September 15, 2023 in Southampton, England. (Photo by Robin Jones/Getty Images) /

Doyle’s game at the centre of the pitch wasn’t great so perhaps it would be best with him back on the left and dropping back into the defensive line when the team reverts to the 3-5-2. This means dropping Ricardo who, similarly, didn’t have the most effective game against Southampton. The Portuguese wing-back may benefit from a rest ahead of a busy two weeks.

For the centre halves I have selected Wout Faes and Conor Coady. Faes was benched on Friday but has been one of the Foxes standout players so far this season, meanwhile Coady would be making his debut for the club. The former Wolves captain was named on the bench against the Saints but was unused. Whether he is fit enough to start a game is yet to be seen, but against a difficult team like Norwich, Leicester could really benefit from his on-field leadership.

Midfield

In midfield I would only make one change with Cesare Casadei taking the place of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Casadei is yet to start to start in the league for the Foxes but an open game against Norwich could be the perfect time for the box-to-box midfielder to have an extended time on the pitch.

Partnering him would be Harry Winks and Wilfred Ndidi. Winks has already established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet under Maresca and his cool passing will greatly benefit the Foxes at Carrow Road. I don’t think this is the game to rest Winks, Bristol City seems a more suited occasion for him to start on the bench.

Last is the increasingly-impressive Wilfred Ndidi, his transition into a powerhouse No.8 won’t have been on many fans’ cards for this season. Ndidi’s cheeky chop and finish against Saints really killed the game off at the end of the first-half and he was subbed off on the 58th minute. His physicality and ability to carry the ball will be needed for Wednesday.
