Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City are flying in the Championship this season and that did not change when third-placed Preston North End were put to the sword on Wednesday night, as the Foxes cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win.

After a frustrating half, which saw the away side put 11 men behind the ball and play on the counter, the Foxes eroded the Preston resolve and a goal from Leicester’s top goalscorer Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall opened the floodgates. The East Midlands side flexed their muscles and dashed off into the sunset as Kelechi Iheanacho added a second goal and Dewsbury-Hall picked up his second of the night.

The result meant that Maresca’s side moved back to the top of the table and moved seven points clear of Preston in third leaving a comfortable cushion between them, in the automatic promotion spots, and Preston in the playoffs.

Goalkeeper and Defenders

Mads Hermansen – 7

A very comfortable night for the Dane. His highlight of the match was a perfectly pinged pass out to Stephy Mavididi to get Leicester straight into attack. The summer signing had very little to do regarding shot-stopping, but remained focused on tipping a low drive around the post from Duane Holmes—nonetheless, another clean sheet for Hermansen.

Ricardo Pereira – 6

A quiet, but comfortable game for the Portuguese international, who played a slightly more attacking role against Preston. Again working nicely on the midfield with Harry Winks, but he was looking to be more progressive with his passing through midfield.
