Conor Coady – 6

Slipped effortlessly into the Vestergaard’s role in the centre of the back three. Looked a little bit leggy at times, but that is to be expected after returning from his first-ever long-term injury. But bringing in an England international to replace the suspended Jannik Vestergaard is an example of just how good this LCFC squad is.

Wout Faes – 7

Very strong defensively again. The Belgium international is making the Championship look easy and is working nicely in this ball-playing back three.

James Justin – 6

Filling in for the injured Callum Doyle on the left side of the back three is not ideal for Justin or Maresca. The England international at times did look confident playing on his weaker left foot and was forced to come inside with his right. Despite that defensively he did not look phased.

Midfielders and Attackers

Harry Winks – 7

The ever-present Winks again added an air of composure in midfield. The English international dictates the tempo of the play and is very good at finding little passes that open Preston up and tease them into pressing onto Leicester.

Wilfred Ndidi – 9

The Nigerian international looked certain to leave Leicester in the summer transfer window, but Ndidi is quickly becoming one of the players of the season at the King Power. Playing in his new advanced role, Ndidi looks a real threat going forward more than he has ever been. The pass to set up Iheanacho’s goal was a delight.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 9

Another standout performance from Dewsbury-Hall. His two goals on Wednesday night meant that he leapfrogged Kasey McAteer to the top of the goalscoring charts at Leicester with five. Leicester’s No.22 is far too good for this level and is going to be integral to ensuring that the Foxes bounce back to the Premier League.
