Leicester City resume their record breaking start to the 2023 campaign with a trip to Wales to face 12th place Swansea City. The Welsh side seem to have recovered from their shaky start to the season, winning their last four games. Which includes convincing away wins against Millwall, Plymouth Argyle and victory at home against playoff hopefuls Norwich City as well.

However, as we have seen on multiple occasions this season, most tests that Enzo Maresca’s side have faced were passed with flying colours. Making light work of teams in good form and making playoff hopefuls look like mere relegation fodder in the process. Which is of course a testament to the effect the Italian has had on the team. But it is also a demonstration to the superior quality and squad-depth LCFC has over the rest of the Championship.

The first game after the international break can make things difficult for a side like Leicester due to the fact that they generally have a team full of internationals. So not only does it mean the manager has no time with them for 10 days, the playing time they had on duty coupled with occasional lengthy travel has an affect. Many who endured that are not in a position to feature fully in the first game back. Unlike in recent years, the Foxes only have that issue with a few players.

Predicted Leicester City XI for Swansea: 4-3-3

GK: Mads Hermansen, RB: Ricardo Pereira, CB: Wout Faes, CB: Jannick Vestergaard, LB: James Justin, DM: Harry Winks, CM: Wilfred Ndidi, CM: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, LW: Stephy Mavididi, ST: Kelechi Iheanacho, RW: Issahaku Abdul Fatawu

At this point I think most Foxes fans recognise what Maresca thinks his best 11 is. Players such as Faes could be questionable as he played all available minutes of both of Belgium’s internationals. So we could maybe see Hamza Choudhury come into the centre back role, as he has at times throughout his Leicester career.

The only other real question mark is over Ndidi and his availability; he was rested for Nigeria’s second international against Mozambique. While his national teammate Iheanacho left the country’s camp early for “Pressing personal issues”, as reported by Leicestershire Live.

Nonetheless, the wholesale changes made in the dominant win against Stoke City prove that, at the moment, City can put out any number of line-ups and still get the job done. They look to continue their sensational run by adding a seventh straight league win at the Liberty stadium on Saturday.
