Swansea 1-3 Leicester: 3 Foxes positives and negatives
Finally, a mentality renewed
How many of us remember Brendan Rodgers incessantly talking about signing players to bring a winning mentality to the side? About how all Leicester needed was a little more luck and a stronger mentality when they conceded? Well, he was right to be fair, but it was not the Northern Irishman who gained us that mentality. His name is Enzo Maresca.
The Italian head coach has changed the mentality of the lads. When the King Power club went down to Swansea, the team did not sink, it did not waiver from the task, and nor did it start going AWOL and frantic. A composed control, an incessant domination, and a grinding down of defenders: the story of Maresca’s success.
When Grimes scored, I felt deflated, annoyed, and frustrated to have conceded again to a corner. Yet, a wild goal from the Danish centre-back and constant pressure brought me hope that this is how Leicester ought to be. We may concede to sides we think we ought to beat with ease – it is natural when only a few seasons ago we were talking about the Champions League battle – but we will not give in like we have previously, we will grind out that result and get the three points.
