What good does it do Leicester City Football Club to sue Everton now? Sure, money is good everyone loves money, but can the Foxes buy their way back into the league? While being an avid conspiracy person myself, I don’t see a Barcelona F.C. like scheme of paying referees indirectly to ensure our promotion back to the Premier League.

Even if we somehow manage to shift all deadwood in the winter transfer window and sign world beaters in every position, we could experience an injury crisis. Money never guarantees results, look at Chelsea this season. They just broke back into the top half of the table recently. They have spent eye watering amounts of money on players and coaches alike and still can’t find success. Injuries and general team dynamic problems as well as lack of a true scorer have hampered their ability to get the results they need.

If Leicester City spent £100 million this January and all of those players were injured, it wouldn’t matter at all how much they sued Everton for. Leicester is the club most affected by this absolute dross by the EPL. They should have adjudicated on this at the end of last season to ensure the teams most affected by this breaking of financial rules would have their rights protected and concerns addressed in a timely fashion.

Having ranted enough, I think this is cause for a massive overhaul in how England’s top flight and all other tiers really should operate. New protocols and practices should be implemented to ensure that things like this don’t continue to happen. Sure, it would make the over paid executives at these clubs sweat a little more at the start of a season, but I’m sure on their multi-million dollar salaries they can afford a nice spa day when their work is done. Having proper, timely rulings on these matters is of utmost importance if the English Premier League wants to continue to consider itself the pinnacle of league football.

As a fervent Foxes fan, I really do find myself often wondering what we would have done last season had we remained, what coach we would have had, players gone and signed, etc. What do you think would be the best solution to this issue? Should the league change it’s rules, or do you have some other suggestion? Come discuss with me over on X. Be on the lookout for another Sunday Nightcap next week and as always, LTID!
