Here in the United States, we celebrate a holiday called Thanksgiving. It is a time to gather with family, eat turkey and carb-loaded food, drink and argue about politics and/or sports. Oh, and it’s sometimes when you remember what you are thankful for in your life; an increasingly minor part as it were. One thing I’m sure all Foxes of Leicester readers are thankful for is yet another list from a Yank with strong opinions and here it is! Here are my three best wingers from modern Leicester City Football Club history.

Grabbing third place amongst this overly prestigious list is a player who every single Leicester fan will remember in mixed ways, but he will always be remembered for one particular action. It could have been any player that scored on this day in history but fate chose him. I’m referring to former Hull City man Demarai Gray. The reason he is in this list is for that one iconic moment.

It had occurred on October 27th that year in 2018, the tragic helicopter crash that killed club Chairman Khun Vichai and four others outside the King Power Stadium when Leicester City’s players then had to rally themselves to travel to Cardiff City. Gray scored the only goal of the match, and removed his jersey to reveal a message on his undershirt reading “FOR KHUN VICHAI”. It is an unrepeatable moment in this club’s history for obvious reasons. I truly doubt all the supporters and the footballing community will ever be united in that way again, and when Gray removed his jersey and roared in celebration, we truly all roared with him.

My personal opinion of the player is he was ok in his stint with us. He produced some truly special moments, but was never consistent. Despite maybe not reaching his potential heights, that one moment will forever live in Leicester City folklore and his goal that day will be watched most likely for the rest of the existence of this club.
