The King Power Club performed a surgical removal of necrosis with the transfer market. Roughly 20 players departed, and 14 new signings took their place, as the Foxes transitioned swiftly into a League One club. However, whether they manage to maintain their performances over a season and translate that dominating possession into results is yet to be seen.
To assist, Leicester City could do with added depth. With Jakub Stolarczyk confirmed out for the season, Ben Nelson out for most of the season, and Conor Chaplin a major concern due to his lack of reliability, Russell Martin could do with a player in each position to bolster the League One squad, even if only for a season.

In goal, the Foxes will now rely on Alex McCarthy as their No.1. Despite the immensely positive performances of the Polish goalkeeper, McCarthy did illustrate his proficiency for shot-stopping in an inspired performance against Plymouth Argyle, which saw Martin's side find their first win despite continued issues. With Franco Ravizzoli their provisional second choice (likely to be seen in the EFL Trophy) and their academy keeper Stevie Bausor out on loan, a gap has opened for a short-term signing.
There are myriad choices in this spot. Some big names and some small names. However, I think we can narrow it down to two candidates: the unrealistic and the old face. Leicester could go for former Bournemouth No.1, Arsenal No.2, and recent Serie A goalkeeper Neto. This ageing keeper is in the twilight of his career, and a short stay supporting the Foxes should be a simple end to his solid career. However, former LCFC keeper Ben Hamer is currently without a club, and despite not playing much recently, he is an experienced player who can offer enough as a third choice and bench selection. Neto would not come in as a second fiddle, so Hamer is the better option.
At the back, despite the signings of Ilari Kangasniemi and Warren O'Hora, with Wout Faes still a possible exit, the injuries to Ben Nelson and Caleb Okoli (plus a possible exit) mean Russell Martin would benefit from one player coming on every once in a while. Again, here are two options: an unrealistic and a realistic candidate.
As a small jest, I did note the large volume of former LCFC centre-backs currently as free agents. It figures, considering how porous our defence has been over the years. Conor Coady, Jamaal Lascelles, Daniel Amartey and Caglar Soyuncu are all currently without a club. I would love to see a return for the Turkish defender, but I sincerely doubt he would be interested.
My recommended signing would be this towering Danish defender called *checks notes* Jannick Vestergaard. This Danish central defender would pair well with Russell Martin and Emil Riis. Alright, more seriously, former Birmingham City defender Jonathan Panzo is no longer with our Midlands rivals, and although not a consistent player for Birmingham, he played a solid squad role for Rio Ave in Portugal.
Perhaps a better option is the more experienced Adam Webster: Brighton & Hove Albion's former centre-back. Despite his lack of recent game time, in part due to Brighton's surge into a top 6 club, the defender is not in the twilight of his career and could play a huge leading role in the dressing room, with ample experience in high-possession football to boot. However, I would be pleased if we could convince 'Cags' to make a return to the King Power; as a more experienced CB, he could bring respect and the status of a former winner with him.
In midfield, to go alongside John Lundstram in backing up our youthful starlets and injury-prone star, the Foxes ought to go for someone they were already linked to. Greg Docherty was one of the better performers and an engine in midfield for Charlton Athletic. He is a strong midfielder, has legs, can play anywhere from defensive midfield to attack, and has a box-to-box, ball-winning mentality. In short, he is the only one I would consider signing.
