However, the experienced Lewie Coyle could offer the King Power side a more defensive option. Having started 91% of his games for Hull City at right back, and being in the top percentiles of right-backs for progressive carries, clearances, and having a decent ranking in tackles made (with 12th highest tackles won), Coyle would be financially realistic and an improvement defensively on Justin.
At left-back, Tyrick Mitchell and Sergio Reguilon are out of contract for Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspurs. Meanwhile, Josh Tymon has performed well in getting forward and working well with his team to create chances. Realistically, Tymon and Mitchell would be good shouts to provide progressive talents to rival Thomas for the starting left-back spot, Mitchell perhaps taking it. Either would be recommended in my opinion.
At centre-back, there is less work to do. Harry Souttar, Caleb Okoli, Ben Nelson, and I would expect Conor Coady will probably form the bulk of appearances in the Championship. However, one experienced defender could offer support while Nelson and Okoli continue to develop into our starting duo. Cameron Burgess is out of contract for Ipswich Town and certainly has proven himself in the Championship before.
Towards the later stages of the competition, someone like Burgess could provide composure or hunger depending on what position the Foxes find themselves. However, Jimmy Dunne is amongst the best defenders in the Championship, scores goals, gets assists, is experienced, and as such is clearly who Leicester should sign to partner with Nelson or Okoli as the starting central defender. Dunne would also not be overly expensive for the King Power Club.
