Join us as we look at Leicester City's supposedly precarious managerial situation at the moment. Marti Cifuentes was clearly able to buy himself a reprieve after a few encouraging second half signs versus Sheffield United. Though that frustrating game was ultimately lost, I feel the Catalan would have potentially been sacked had he not engineered a realistic and stirring comeback attempt.

Following that clash, certain members in the Foxes fan base still envisioned the former Queens Park Rangers man leaving King Power Stadium for good. Although, we wouldn't swap that most recent Derby County victory (which reminded me a bit of the famous 4-0 Leicester City victory at Pride Park Stadium in 1998) for anything really. Apart from promotion, I must admit!

So it seems as though the pressure on Cifuentes has been relieved somewhat. Another theory is that even if the LCFC powers-that-be wished to dismiss the 43-year-old - they may not have the funds or latitude in order to pay for his hypothetical compensation upon dismissal, nor would they be able to fund a separate appointment. Yet if that eventuality is a possibility, we would like to know more of the potential gaffers on City's wishlist. Hence this article's inception.

Rating five managers Leicester City have on the shortlist incase Marti Cifuentes is eventually sacked

We are consulting Football League World for today's rumours and suggestions on the prospective next Foxes boss. First of all, they imply that City would have designs on Daniel Farke should he exit Leeds United.

However, the tier two promotion specialist has turned his tenure around slightly in the space of a mere week. A similar turnaround to Cifuentes'.

Who else is apparently admired on Filbert Way?

"Michael Carrick would be a sensible choice, as he built a stylish Middlesbrough team that reached the play-offs in his first season."

"From Leicester’s perspective, O’Neil would appear to be a good fit, and he would also encourage a fast, attacking style of play that the supporters want to see."
"We know that Leicester have ambitions of going up, so it may make sense to go for a short-term appointment, and Ralph Hasenhuttl would fit the bill."

Finally, Football Insider claims Russell Martin is high on the Leicestershire side's list. That scenario would cause outrage in the Blue Army. Carrick or O'Neil have my vote presently.
