Chelsea just made a painful Enzo Maresca realization Leicester already knew

Enzo Maresca was a superb coach for Leicester City. If you asked any Leicester fan, they would take him back in a heartbeat. In fact, that's not even a question worth asking.

However, the manner in which he left the East Midlands outfit still leaves a bitter taste in the Foxes' mouths. He very quickly went from hero to zero by jumping ship at the first chance he got. To really rub salt into the wounds, he took Leicester's best player, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with him.

It didn't take long for KDH to be completely fizzled out of Enzo's plans at Stamford Bridge, but he's now making a pretty good name for himself at Everton. Just today, it was announced that Enzo Maresca had followed the same path by leaving Chelsea.

Chelsea fans learned what Leicester fans already knew about Enzo Maresca

According to David Ornstein, Enzo Maresca has been seeking a move to Man City for a long time. He told Chelsea about the conversations he was having with Man City about coaching them, because his contract mandated him to let Chelsea know.

With Man City second in the Premier League and surrendering their title last season, some are looking at Pep Guardiola's time in the hotseat as being over. He's a legendary coach, as we all know, but that's a story for a rainy day.

Regarding Enzo's sly plan to work his way up the football pyramid, all we can say is surprise surprise.

It's almost as if someone cheats once, they will cheat again.

Chelsea should have known by how Enzo Maresca left Leicester in the dirt that he'd do the same to them. Now that he's left two clubs in relatively quick succession, it must raise a serious red flag.

Anyway, Enzo got his wish in the end. If he ends up managing Man City, this will surely be the final change in his career, right? Well, we'll see when a Real Madrid vacancy opens up in the future.

Look, there's not too much bad blood between Leicester fans and Enzo Maresca. If anything, there is appreciation from the King Power faithful. Nevertheless, Leicester fans could have predicted his eventual Chelsea exit from a mile away.

What a way to start 2026, right?
