The transfer window has now officially opened.

From now, the 15th of June, until the 3rd of September, clubs up and down the country can conduct their summer transfer business, with Leicester City surely set to be busy in this department, as they mount an immediate promotion challenge.

With Russell Martin set to be unveiled as the Foxes' next chosen manager, as well, it's an exciting time to be a Leicester supporter, even if the club is submerged in the lowly waters of League One.

Leicester will be looking to add in League One experienced performers to their roster to ensure promotion is successfully clinched, with Huddersfield Town striker Joe Taylor possibly ticking the boxes.

Could Leicester go after Taylor?

Social media speculation is tipping Taylor for a move to Leicester this summer, so it's not exactly coming from the most concrete source.

Indeed, a League One-oriented X page talking about transfer rumours has stated that the Midlands giants, alongside Sheffield Wednesday are keen on snapping up the Peterborough-born hotshot this off-season.

He has been put up for sale by the Terriers, as per the more reputable words of EFL-focused journalist Alan Nixon, so it isn't the strangest link in the world, considering Leicester do need some upgrades in the striker department to tackle League One promotion head-on.

22 career appearances have passed him by in the Championship without a single goal to show for his troubles.

But, when it comes to League One, Taylor knows the division well, having been a consistent menace at the challenging level throughout his career when donning the jerseys of many a lower league side.

He knows League One well

Formerly on the books of Kings Lynn Town in non-league, the 23-year-old attacker has managed to forge out a successful career for himself in the EFL.

At the time of writing, the Wales U21 international has bagged 27 goals in League One from 82 total appearances, with a further 11 goals in his back pocket when previously starring in League Two.

It will be his red-hot numbers in the third tier that will catch the eye of Leicester, with Taylor just fresh off a a sensational loan stint out at Wigan Athletic, as he powered home a blistering 11 goals from only 22 appearances.

Latics boss Gary Caldwell would hail the 23-year-old as "incredible" for his instant impact in Greater Manchester, with Taylor surely read for a challenge further up the division, if the Foxes come knocking.

He has performed well under the promotion spotlight before, with ten strikes put away confidently from 19 games for Lincoln City during the 2023/24 season, as they flirted with the idea of launching into the playoffs.

If Leicester were to have Taylor leading the line in such a venomous vein of form, promotion would surely fall into their grasp, with Gary Rowett's undoing last season from the dug-out, the fact that he had limp performers such as Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew to fall back on up top.

Leicester will be linked with an onslaught of names this transfer window, as they are the big hitter of the league.

While some names will be met with a raised eyebrow for the wrong reasons, a move for Taylor is intriguing in all the right ways, as a promotion-competing camp is moulded.
