As you probably know, Leicester City defeated a decent travelling Stoke City side at home on Saturday afternoon, thankfully. We generally respect the Potters as they are a similar sized, scrappy and difficult team to beat like ourselves. So gaining three points over the visitors is never easy. It is certainly not simple to obtain an away victory at bet365 Stadium either, for that matter. Manager Mark Robins, previously of LCFC, drills his squad well.
Therefore the Foxes unavoidably have veteran, current first-choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to thank for their weekend victory. That was a first win for LCFC at King Power Stadium in approximately three months. City were ultimately victorious thanks to two slightly surprising finishes from underperforming duo Stephy Mavididi and Patson Daka on the day. A hard-fought and just about deserved victory for the East Midlands outfit.

But some of the more vocal supporters who made the trip down from Staffordshire seem to be out of the footballing loop and were not best pleased with a specific Fox. And this surely small yet embarrassing faction of the Potters faithful verbally attacked their own former player and Leicester's Man of the Match, Begovic. But why did they abuse the stopper? And why was it particularly cringey?
Leicester City 'keeper Asmir Begovic upsets a few Stoke City fan(atic)s
Begovic made some great saves versus Stoke; he did everything a goalie should to win. Consequently being targeted on social media is a discredit to all the good SCFC fans out there!
Shame u didnโt show the team respect with your antics at the end of the match. U hav lost quite of bit of respect from stoke fans because of that

What do certain Stoke fans expect Begovic to do - throw the ball into his own net for them?! Should he simply back down to a forward attempting to intimidate or hurt him in the challenge?! The phrase sour grapes comes to mind.
What was today all about?

Not expecting you to play any differently to any other game but scrapping our players, constant time wasting. Thought you were better than that
They would and do advocate their own 'keeper and team time-wasting etcetera when winning like the rest of us. So that behaviour is arguably hypocritical. These few also seemed annoyed that he applauded them - a gentlemanly gesture.
Proper embarrassing from you towards the young lads in our team. Very disappointed

It seems like a couple of members of the Potters away support want things handed to them. And when it doesn't go their way, they make infantile, sanctimonious and inaccurate accusations online. I would advise those fans to grow up - but it wouldn't help.
Must be deaf. You did the same antics against us when you were at Bournemouth - I get that youโre doing your job but donโt take the piss and then expect the away end to clap you back .

"There was drama in injury time when Mubama and Begovic locked horns โ with accusations about stamps on boots and a bit of windmilling arms โ but the latter was able to see out the game and frustrate his old friends."Stoke Sentinel
It appears that both players were antagonostic during the main incident involving Begovic. By the way, I couldn't include the more offensive posts aimed at the 38-year-old.
