Mid-level sporting memoirs often have some outlandish, bitter and rather toxic comments made about others within whichever arena they concern. And this latest footballing life story, or historical account (a phrase which certainly seems overblown and erroneous when attached to a work such as this) is no different! Current Swindon Town manager, and one-time Leicester City head coach, Ian Holloway has evidently written an explosive piece. But which former Foxes star player did the ex-LCFC gaffer slam in his book? We can discover that now and then discuss whether or not the accusations are realistic or even genuine.

Ex-Leicester City manager Ian Holloway slams former Foxes star player, television presenter and expert analyst Gary Lineker

Memoirs (as some of these accounts are known, in arguably somewhat pretentious fashion) should possibly be a term reserved for chronicles of the actually important among us. Political or religious leaders, for example.

Maybe the pinnacle of sporting achievement qualifies for such an ostentatious depiction. Those like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Michael Jordan have perhaps earned their extravagant praise and credit at such heights.

But I don't really think Ian Holloway can be put into that category. Although likeable for some reasons like speaking his mind and being a down-to-earth character in an overly managed trade, his remarks appear wild in this instance.

A journeyman of a manager and a player, Holloway has now aimed his sights at the fairly well-liked, liberal and harmless appearing Gary Lineker. We'll get to the 62-year-old's statements on the retired England man in a moment.

Can I just also quickly interject and note that Lineker is admired by the well-informed Blue Army members for at least one reason. Back in 2002/03, City were in administration with debts of approximately £30million. The 64-year-old and old Fox Emile Heskey were involved in a consortium which basically helped save the East Midlands club.

Back to Holloway, just check out his harsh quotes on Lineker below:

"Gary's not a nice man in my experience and maybe it was because of my time at Leicester," Holloway states. "All I know is he was unpleasant to me and, in my view, dismissive and disrespectful. While I was at Blackpool, I was invited on Match of the Day but it was clear Lineker didn't want me there. He didn't speak to me once and didn't even say hello. I'm sorry, but Gary Lineker and his little crew are making them [referees] look even more s*** because they can look at every incident from every angle.

"If referees had access to all the camera angles that Lineker and his friends have in a studio, they might get more decisions right."
