A rather eye-opening club that is unlikely to be successful in this particular endeavour has entered the race to sign Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy. Nevertheless, the Championship outfit is said to be chasing the former England international. But why do we believe this to be the latest in a long line of fanciful, click-bait titles without substance? Why has the striker still not found a new home, with Europe's top five divisions along with England's tier two kicking off very soon? And where does this outlet think JV9 will end up?
Why Leicester City fans care
No, Vardy's ultimate destination most likely won't impact the Foxes whatsoever. But he is LCFC's most famous and favourite son. And its most decorated player in history. A legend at the King Power and beyond!
Therefore Vardy's next steps are important for those of us in the Blue Army. He and his family could ultimately find themselves on one of three different continents: Asia with a Saudi Arabian side, Europe supposedly and likely offers a plethora of options, as does Major League Soccer in the United States.
Eye-opening & unlikely club enter race to sign Jamie Vardy
On Friday morning, an arresting story from football media caught Foxes of Leicester's eye. An apparent exclusive from Football Insider (to be taken with a significant pinch of salt) suggests 'Birmingham City have already made a move to sign Vardy' to paraphrase.
However the "make move" aspect from that article is the most crucial element here, if it is to be taken seriously. That means contact with Vardy or his agent has essentially taken place before now. So, what did FI say?
Well, according to the company's sources, the Blues have 'registered their interest in signing Jamie Vardy'. The Brummie team reportedly have wealthy American owners too.
"Exclusive: Birmingham City make move to sign Jamie Vardy"
Ex-Leicester assistant manager Chris Davies is at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, giving false credence here. We just can't envisage Vards competing in the same league as the Foxes. It's not like he's short of interest.
