One of Leicester City fans' prime wishes for the summer is definitely for the East Midlands club's operators to rid themselves of defensive let down Wout Faes. Seriously, even alongside signing a decent replacement and having other athletes arrive for different positions, having the Belgium international out of the squad appears paramount to some; not to mention a little harsh.

But how did it come to this for a National Team representative of some distinction before flushing his career down the Leicestershire toilet? Foxes supporters never truly warmed to the defender, as he endured multiple relegations during his time at King Power Stadium.

Whether in the Premier League or the Championship, performances frequently lacked the defensive rigour required to anchor the backline. Spells of poor positioning proved costly for the club.

As a matter of fact, the centre back's temporary tenure at AS Monaco went so badly that the French outfit ultimately declined to trigger their option to buy the player from his parent team. Oh dear, oh dear, Mr Faes!

The 28-year-old had proven himself a liability and, strangely, could do with reinventing himself with an increased combative nature, perhaps even in a division where his specific ball-playing strengths are less exposed. His quality on the ball, which the Blue Army rarely witnessed with any consistency, would probably be productive in a different tactical environment.

Faes would also, arguably, have the time and wherewithal to improve his ridiculously unsatisfactory positional effectiveness in defence too. However, in spite of les Rouge et Blanc declining the opportunity to sign the man with a declining reputation, another team may be able to be exploited for a fee!

Will Leicester City's Wout Faes get his transfer?

Fenerbahce are the, surely confused, club in question here. And turkish-football.com assert that contact has been initiated between the two organisations.

"Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have reportedly initiated contact to gather information regarding Leicester City defender Wout Faes, weighing up a potential summer move for the Belgian center-back."

In the meantime, there are the remaining City personnel connected with respective exits as the club navigates a difficult financial landscape and a transition to League One football. The already published list of senior departures is substantial, as the club confirmed that 10 first-team players, including long-serving captain Ricardo Pereira, will be moving on upon the expiration of their contracts.

Furthermore, the club has confirmed the end of loan spells. Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa are all set to return to their parent clubs.

Meanwhile, several others are on the chopping board. They are comprised of Abdul Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Ben Nelson, Jannik Vestergaard, Victor Kristiansen and Jeremy Monga.
