Turmoil on and off the pitch at King Power Stadium has not gone unnoticed. LCFC is currently scrutinised by pundits, experts, journalists and the Premier League and Championship powers-that-be. We are all fairly shocked and appalled at the Foxes' downfall under the leadership of chairman and owner Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha, director of football Jon Rudkin and CEO Susan Whelen.
But have the seemingly overly trusted and King Power-protected pair done enough to lose their jobs, or for others to be under consideration? Possibly not, to Khun Top. It was Dan Barnett, a director at the organisation, who was relieved of duty. Barnett has joined Hibernian of the Premiership division up in Scotland. Therefore it seems as though Rudkin and Whelen have survived another car crash of a campaign.
The unfortunate, so-called executive LCFC duo also undoubtedly oversaw, or did nothing to alter, the ridiculously bad Profit and Sustainability situation. That has actually put the team and club in a rather perilous footballing position, to say the least. We can't sign any decent players and have only bought a few in certain offseasons and January windows.
However, even with all this happening at Leicester, what is happening to Khun Top's business in Thailand makes the entire operation in Leicestershire potentially untenable. And now a finance expert has actually claimed that King Power may choose, or be forced to, sell LCFC to a potential suitor. I don't want to worry the Blue Army fan base, but we like to present the facts or speculation and discuss it here at Foxes of Leicester.
Selling Leicester City FC?
Is that assessment realistic? Well, read the below quote from financial specialist Adam Williams:
"Leicester City are important to them, of course, but they are also probably a £200m-plus asset that is a drain on cash for them at a time when they need money. King Power aren’t hugely diversified, so I think Leicester would be one of the first businesses to be sold off."Adam Williams via EFLanalysis
Arguably the most important factor here is the assertion that King Power chiefs may select the Foxes as an asset to offload. That would surely only happen if KP continues to suffer. A corner might perhaps have been turned there too.
