Hope & optimism dashed as dismissal Leicester disappoint fans

The Blue Army had certainly enjoyed a significantly more palatable week since the sheer ignominy of the Norwich embarrassment last weekend. A hard-fought draw against Ipswich Town served as an encouraging testament to a flickering resilience. While the subsequent triumph over Bristol City acted as the exact medicinal tonic required upon the hallowed turf at the King Power. There was, for a fleeting moment, a sense that the Foxes had finally steadied amidst the turbulence of this EFL Championship campaign.

​Yet, in a script that has become wearyingly familiar to the Foxes faithful, those fragile embers of hope were unceremoniously doused. To suffer a home defeat at the hands of a mediocre Queens Park Rangers side (languishing as they are in the nether regions of the table) is nothing short of shocking.

However, for the cynical observer, such a capitulation is hardly a revelation when considering the bureaucratic inertia of owners, The King Power International Group. Even the youthful promise of Ben Nelson was tarnished by the afternoon's malaise.

The centre back was, quite remarkably, designated the day's poorest performer by internet supporters following a catastrophic own goal that epitomised the defensive fragility currently haunting the side. But as the digital vitriol surged across social media, the primary target remained the boardroom.

The Blue Army turned their collective ire toward the ownership, and with justifiable cause. Aiyawatt "Khun Top" Srivaddhanaprabha, through a series of perceived structural failures and a lack of decisive sporting direction, has overseen a decline so steep it feels as though he has almost run this historic institution into the ground.

Once a beacon of underdog defiance, the East Midlanders now feel like a club adrift. Anchored to England's second division only by the weight of its own mismanagement and incompetence.
