If it weren't for the point of the season that this Leicester team is in, the narrow 1-0 loss would be acceptable. In a vacuum, the squad showed resolve and fight. At this point, however, Ruud van Nistelrooy's side needs to accumulate points. With time running out, a lot of hard decisions will be made.

Luke Thomas had a good showing against the Blues. In a rare start, the left center back may have done enough to earn a more consistent run of play for City. The academy product has quality. More minutes, at a less sporadic rate, would likely yield good resultsfor whichever roster he is a part of next year.

For a backline that has had numerous issues, it was Thomas who had the best showing of the Leicester defenders. This is particularly true when considering how infrequent his appearances are. RvN may be forced to play the 23-year-old more after Sunday's display.

Going against Jadon Sancho and Cole Palmer a lot, the LCB more than held his own. His distribution and willingness to go forward, furthermore, showed what he offers from that position.

The boss even took a moment to mention him specifically in his post-game thoughts:

"The back five, but especially the centre-backs Wout Faes, Conor Cody, and Luke Thomas, had excellent games. They really did well, and the wing-backs too, coming higher up."

At 6.7, his WhoScored rating was the best of all defenders for the visiting side. The 80% successful tackle rate also illustrated his overall command on the left-hand side of the pitch.

Unknown future with Leicester ahead

It was a tough ask of the young defender. Not only has he not been seeing a lot of minutes, but he was thrown in against a top-four Premier League side. It was only a one-game sample size, but he appears to be worthy of more serious starting consideration than what he has been up to this point.

The club may ultimately feel otherwise and decide to move on from the homegrown talent. Regardles, Thomas' stock is rising after Leicester's past match and another club could look to add him to their ranks.
