So far in summer 2026, Leicester have completed four actual signings, which is beginning to appease their ever-discerning but loyal fan base. City supporters were concerned about several situations heading into the offseason - and with good reason judging by recent detrimental Foxes history!
First of all, finances on Filbert Way are not something to admire anymore. LCFC used to be one of the leaders, even an outlier, among mid-sized Premier League teams.
They subsequently became one of the most austere, frugal and troubled organisations in that division, then carried a similar status through the Championship campaign of 2025/26. Now Leicester are a massive fish in their pond - not quite the shark yet, though fresh investment is steadily adding bite back to the Foxes.
Alex McCarthy is a suitable goalkeeper for Russell Martin's presumed system; the veteran stopper knows the former Scotland international well from previous coaching connections. Conor Chaplin may yet prove to be the signing of the season for City: his leadership qualities, dedication and class are set to be vital on Filbert Way this campaign.
Meanwhile, Manchester City defender Christian McFarlane could easily emerge as something of a coup at this level, bringing top-flight development pedigree to a squad hungry for momentum. The latest arrival is Liam Cullen, confirmed permanently from Swansea City for an undisclosed fee; a left-footer adept in multiple positions across the front line and a proven goalscorer at this level.
Cullen is also a capped Wales international, adding crucial senior international quality to an attack that has lacked consistent end product in recent times. The 27-year-old signed a three-year deal to bring his hard-earned experience to the East Midlands.
Where Liam Cullen fits in at Leicester City
Cullen may be used as a second striker or deployed on either wing; his self-confessed versatility is a major asset as Martin shapes his first-choice XI. Brighton & Hove Albion's Tommy Watson is widely tipped to come in and occupy the left-flank, therefore Cullen may well find himself deployed on the right wing to accommodate both talents; Will Alves or Chaplin are probable No.10s.
