Important words from Jamie Vardy need to be heard by all at Leicester

There isn't any room to debate how this current Leicester season has gone. For all of the poor outings, watching the final potential years of Jamie Vardy end this way has been the toughest aspect to watch. He is someone who can still perform and score goals. The longtime striker has that inner drive and quality in his legs still to wreak havoc on opposition defenses.

Everyone, players included, knows that it hasn't been acceptable from the Foxes. Many will disagree on the proportion of blame that should go around throughout the whole of the club. There isn't going to be anyone, though, who will suggest that the year wasn't disappointing.

It's nice when players take accountability. In a shared post on X, the skipper shared his current thoughts on his and his teammates efforts so far. There weren't any excuses or anything of that nature. Instead, it reads of someone who is angry and disappointed that the season resulted in much bitterness surrounding the club he has been a part of for so long.

As he goes on to say that 2024-2025 has been "a total embarrassment," it's clear that the frustration and almost disbelief of how bad things have gotten continue to weigh on those inside the locker room. They know that a lot isn't right surrounding them. The players and Ruud van Nistelrooy alone aren't to blame for City going down in the manner in which they did.

Those wearing the badge also understand the part they played and that there were many moments in which they could have done better. The collective lack of spirit and needed intensity often turned what would have been a loss into an unquestioned catastrophe.

For lack of a better term, this letter could be telling of what Vardy may want to do this summer. Certainly the financials will need to be revisited, but his staying appears more likely after a post like this. Regret can be a difficult thing to live with, particularly when a lot of what led to the unwanted outcome is in your control.

Possible driving force for Leicester moving forward

Those following LCFC will be re-tuning into Championship matches again. If Vardy is present for the campaign in the lower division again, expect to see a renewed fight from him and the Foxes once again. This past season can be something of a future positive.

No one wants to be a part of a side that fails to score and continually puts up bad performances. For those who stick around, they'll have the constant reminder of being relegated before the final week in April. Remembering what this year has been like and wanting to avoid a repeat at all costs, it could serve as a strong motivation factor to help prevent a similar outcome from happening again.
