Ipswich 1-1 Leicester: Three things we learnt from dreadful result

Leicester City will be seething with themselves for failing to make chances count against fellow promoted side Ipswich Town. The hosts took the lead late on through a Leif Davis wonder strike. Here is what we have learnt following the fixture.

An identity crisis

Cooper has got to answer the question: what does it mean to be Leicester City? How ought the Foxes to play? The answer ideally is what it once was under the early years of Brendan Rodgers: we will play progressive, demanding and intense football against the vast majority of teams; and, against teams who are better than us, instead of more of the same, LCFC must adapt, defend, and slow down. During those years, the team would play differently against different opponents to maximise points gained.

At this time, the Blues seem to have settled for one way of playing mixed with panicked changes (such as throwing Bilal El Khannouss out there for Pereira) based on how we play against the opposition rather than setting us up to succeed from the get-go. This creates a predictable style of play, a reliance on particular players, and in-match frustrations from players who struggle to impact a game because their instructions and set-up are simply not suited to the opposition.
