The day is finally among the English people. The wait to kick-off their World Cup 2026 tournament is over. Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions will take on Croatia at 9:00pm, British Summer Time.

Tuchel could have hoped for a lesser opponent to start the competition against, being that the Croats are a great modern side.
However, England should really be obtaining the win there by using any and all means necessary.

The majority of Leicester City supporters will, of course, be cheering on Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and the rest of the squad.
Former Fox and illustrious footballer Jamie Vardy will also be rooting for his old national team.

The legendary baller was a superb matchwinner on his day, and he has selected a possibly surprising potential difference-maker amongst his homeland's ranks. It is not Kane, Saka nor the set-pieces of Rice that the ex-Cremonese striker has chosen.

Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy and David James of all people on England XI

Quite peculiarly, one-time Liverpool and Three Lions goalkeeper David James was the guest for the second episode of the "Jamie Vardy's Having a Party" podcast. James and "JV9" devised a combined international line-up, with a few shocks.

First of all, leaving out Elliot Anderson is a bold call, especially to accommodate the attack-minded Eberechi Eze. Though "Vards" rightly believes the Arsenal star to be capable of the sublime out of nowhere.

"He’s a matchwinner. He’ll pull something crazy out of the bag and it’s in the top bin so I don’t think you can take things for granted."

The 39-year-old says Eze should not be taken for granted. Many fans would love the Gunner to start, although possibly not in central midfield.

While the tactical intricacies of Tuchel's setup remain the subject of intense national debate, Vardy's endorsement highlights the sheer depth of creative talent currently at disposal for Eng'. Whether Eze receives the nod in this opening clash remains to be seen, yet the anticipation is palpable.
