We explain why Victor Kristiansen shouldn't be shocked that he's been dropped by the Denmark National Team. The left back has been substandard for the majority of Leicester City's campaign. And Kristiansen's uneven form (at best) did descend into the deficient as I see it. If he's not careful, he'll be disregarded at King Power Stadium too.
Fullback frailty at LCFC
Most Leicester City players are simply not fit to start in the Premier League or haven't been performing up to their own highest or typical standard. Certain Foxes typify that theory perfectly: James Justin and Victor Kristiansen. Both are talented, but the two fullbacks have respectively underperformed for the entirety of 2024/25. And while all of City's problems can't be laid at their doors, or the defence in general, that area has been a massive negative factor.
The Denmark international in particular has evaded the wrath of Leicester supporters when Justin takes the brunt of it. However, in my view Kristiansen has been almost as bad as the England-capped man. Therefore the Dane shouldn't be at all surprised to find himself dropped from his national side. Ultimately he's been poor all season. Both have. If other LCFC defenders were available earlier, I believe the pair would have been appropriately omitted.
Better Leicester City options?
I know he needs time to settle and adjust to the rigours and demands of the English top flight, but I quite like Woyo Coulibaly. The Frenchman possesses many natural and eye-catching qualities. He also doesn't panic and turnover possession like Kristiansen and, to a lesser extent, Justin. Maybe the latter will be moved to the left; Ricardo Pereira is surely in with a chance of beginning matches.
Yes, Kristiansen was decent at Bologna and is a likeable seeming professional. Yet he often appears off the frantic EPL pace. What's best for Leicester is of the utmost importance here!
Sadly the 22-year-old's attacking wasn't up to scratch this term either, like his defending on occasion. One assist feels insufficient. I feel Pereira and Coulibaly, or Justin, should start for the Foxes going forward.
