At the time of writing this piece, we are approximately one hour away from Jamie Vardy's last ever game as a Leicester City player. A sad day, but also a time to reflect on what the striker has achieved for the Foxes on Filbert Way in unfathomable fashion. King Power Stadium and its grounds are already rocking before his swansong match against Ipswich Town even kicks off. The East Midlands club rightfully and graciously organised a family event of JV9 celebrations.
I'm sure everyone from the ages of eight to eighty are enjoying the occasion at LCFC today. But the hope and wish on everyone's mind in the Blue Army is for Vardy to score his 200th goal on his 500th Leicester appearance. Oh, it's also 13 years to the day that he signed for the Leicestershire outfit too. What a fated coincidence. It'll happen, won't it?!
However, bad or awkward news might perhaps be on the horizon for the Leicester support. It appears that the former England international has not ruled out one possibility as he finds a new team to play for. And the City faithful could end up being a bit annoyed or in a slightly difficult spot next season. So, what's this latest update on Vardy's potential next side, and how may his choice end up causing upset for LCFC fans?
Latest quote from Jamie Vardy implies potential next club clashing with Leicester City in 2025/26
First of all, many people do expect Vardy to decline any Championship offers that may transpire. He's so loyal to the Foxes that it seems unforeseeable he'd be at a rival club for the upcoming campaign.
Yet if you analyse his quote below from Sky Sports, he definitely leaves that door open:
"When it was put to Vardy that he wouldn’t leave City for another Championship side, and that he believes he can play at an elite level, whether that’s the Premier League or abroad, he said: 'Yeah, 100 per cent. But again, football's a crazy world. So you never know what's going to happen.'"Leicestershire Live
As you can tell for yourself, contrary to reporting which you can access here, my inference is that Vardy is actually open to playing against City next term. I wouldn't put it past Vards to join an up-and-coming tier two team if he does in fact do the unthinkable, such as Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham. Although I still find that scenario unlikely knowing Vards' loyalty.
