Leicester boss should worry about players' errors more than abusing refs
Leicester City boss Steve Cooper should concentrate on his players' many awkward and unnecessary errors as opposed to constantly abusing referees. Yes, Diogo Dalot was probably offside as he fed youthful but dangerous winger Alejandro Garnacho in the build-up to his goal. Manchester United's second goal was contentious, but not worth the scene that bought the Foxes head coach a third yellow of the season. Of course, that protest also now unnecessarily leads to the gaffer being banished from the sidelines for the vital Ipswich Town game.
The Welshman shall be in the Portman Road Stadium stands in Ipswich, just when the east Midlanders need him for the most crucial of Premier League clashes. The linesman, or referees assistant, was wrong at Old Trafford in the English Football League Cup Round of 16. The conduct of Andrew Madley, officiating on the night, may have been uncalled for too. While Cooper's passion is admirable, he was also in the wrong for an immature and ill-advised reaction that could now cost City on the Tractor Boys' pitch when it matters most!
Leicester City receive managerial punishment
Leicester usually cause their own issues when it comes to managers. But this guy was happy to throw himself out of the frying pan and into the fire! I do not intend to be a detractor of Cooper as such, just so you know. And I'm certainly not intentionally a denigrator of the man's character.
But, at Foxes of Leicester, we do strive to point out inconsistencies on and off the field of play. Not to mention having the intention of giving absolutely honest opinions in the process. So I can happily admit that I like and dislike some elements of the LCFC boss's methods. As we do with anyone. The jury remains out on Cooper, for me.
Cooper may have been accurate in his complaints at the officiators as United doubled their lead. Though I think he would have been better off giving the committed yet wildly raw James Justin some defending tips instead.
Justin, someone who has senior England international caps, allowed Garnacho to have all the space he required to slot home in that instance. For all of the former Luton Town defender's good points, he seems totally lost at times. Especially when the 26-year-old gets forward do you see his ineptitude.
The wonderful finish Justin applied at Arsenal appears to be one of those exceptions that prove the rule. Furthermore, you don't flinch and turn your head in a defensive wall either, or the ball may glance off you and past your own goalkeeper. There were unlimited further aspects and mistakes from other Foxes that Cooper could've been addressing.
