Leicester CEO's chilling warning to fans upon departure from club

The very recently departed Leicester City chief executive officer left on Thursday, in what was a shock to some but a more predictable exit to others. Director of Football Jon Rudkin was always going to use a City scapegoat or Foxes fall guy in order to cling onto his role. Rudkin's position as No.2 in the entire King Power organisation has been described as 'untouchable' by some. Whereas I prefer the term immortal: due to his unsusceptible status when making or overseeing monumental mistakes.

However, we were all wrong about the DoF who the Srivaddhanaprabha family (owners) appear to consider infallible. In truth, if Rudkin needed a 'patsy' or a victim - he must be under more scrutiny from chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha, as well as his own staff monitoring LE2. While we don't yet know why the former fell out with ex-CEO Susan Whelan, a rift between the pair of important Leicester directors has been alluded to.

While the majority of the faithful shed no tears as Whelen left, in spite of involvement in the Premier League title-win etcetera, some mourned when she went. Those supporters pointed to Rudkin, generally asserting 'the wrong one went'. Meaning the DoF is - justifiably - the prime target of fans' frustrations.

Although the most concerning element of all this, besides Rudkin being immune, was a quote from Whelen on the financial mess the East Midlands outfit find themselves in. She warned that problems “will be felt for some time” upon leaving. What does this mean precisely?

Ex-Leicester City CEO Susan Whelen's concerning caution

Before we go on, and despite recent damage by the hierarchy, I would declare that Whelen did much positive work at Leicester. That being said, a new era is welcomed.

"Susan Whelan, the club’s chief executive, had warned that the consequences “will be felt for some time"
John Percy, The Telegraph

What did Whelen mean by the above quote? Things may not get worse for the Foxes before they get better. But the support must weather the storm - because suffering isn't over. Financially, the club has and will be frugal for an indefinite period.
