Leicester fans hoping for Vardy reunion to be hopelessly disappointed

It appears that The King Power International Group, who own and control Leicester City, possibly didn't make the greatest oversight in Foxes history since the Adrien Silva debacle some years ago, after all. For weeks, the narrative simmering within the pups in LE2 (stoked by the characteristically verbose Danny Simpson) suggested a club adrift from its own mythology; failing to extend an olive branch to the immortals of 2016 for a decennial celebration.

Such an omission would, frankly, have been as unforgivable as the current malaise permeating both the boardroom and the pitch; indeed, that sentiment is franker than Lampard! Yet, maybe the totally trustworthy and honest Foxes hierarchy (yeah, right!) actually do care, and consequently undertook the appropriate due diligence (yeah, right!). Hindsight and criticism probably ensure the kick-about in actuality.

Leicester City charity game without Jamie Vardy?!

Nonetheless, it has emerged that the forthcoming friendly, scheduled for Saturday, May 30, serves as the intended rendezvous for that fabled assembly. Supporters, whose loyalty has been tested by the spectre of modern decline, were promised the catharsis of seeing Claudio Ranieri once more orchestrating from the technical area, with the stalwart Wes Morgan donning the armband.

"We will mark the 10-year anniversary of our 2016 Premier League title with a charity match at King Power Stadium this May, raising funds through the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation."

However, a poignant complication threatens to dilute this nostalgia. While King Power Stadium prepares for its prodigals, the talismanic Jamie Vardy (currently plying his trade with Cremonese) finds himself ensnared by the cruel mechanics of the Italian schedule.

"A relegation playoff for Cremonese would likely clash with Leicester's anniversary match to leave a Vardy-sized void in the charity game."

With a potential Serie A play-off looming, the 39-year-old may be mandated to stay in Lombardy. Should domestic duties demand his presence, the Blue Army may find their reunion desperately incomplete, lacking the very man whose goals once turned a 5000/1 impossibility into reality. Without the G.O.A.T. - the celebration risks becoming a haunting reminder of what has been lost.
