Leicester City supporters thought they had found some stability amid a partially renewed optimism following Russell Martin's successful preseason. Yet as soon as competitive games began, worries over tactics, personnel and entertainment were prevalent immediately; of course, the former Southampton, MK Dons, Swansea City and Rangers man was not particularly coveted by the LCFC fan base prior to arriving.

Both fans, and seemingly some players, have grown frustrated with Martin's often overly cautious and disjointed style of play, which has produced laboured build-up, lifeless, as well as showing minimal cutting edge, in all fairness. In addition to those factors, frequent defensive vulnerabilities have left matches feeling at risk, while results hang by a thread.

Off the pitch, the situation is equally grim: the East Midlands club has been put up for sale by the Srivaddhanaprabha family amid severe financial pressures. With chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha (Top) making every single first-team player available for transfer; meanwhile the team has plummeted into League One, a status no one could have imagined a decade ago.

The Foxes squad rebuild has also been stunted, with key targets proving impossible to sign and a mass exodus of top talent underway as The King Power International Group scramble to slash its plaything's wage bill before the transfer window closes. Srivaddhanaprabha is within the law to strip Leicester's assets - but this dismantling won't be forgotten by loyal followers!

There was, however, a glimmer of hope amidst the new arrivals, with Admir Bristric and Wes Burns bringing much-needed physicality, pace and experience to the side. While several free transfers and loans, like Christian McFarlane and Liam Cullen, added depth to a squad that will rely heavily on youth prospects and lesser pedigree players.

Luke Thomas expected to be sold by Leicester City

It is in this context that City's Blue Army faithful will likely celebrate the news that Luke Thomas is reportedly another player set to leave King Power Stadium before the deadline. The academy graduate has long been a target for fan criticism: seen as too lightweight, too slow and consistently exposed at the highest level.

Although Thomas's attacking threat and output (chiefly via crosses) has improved, repeated defensive errors have certainly eroding any goodwill supporters once held toward him. It is nothing personal, but he seems to be struggling even at this level.

At present, and unsurprisingly, there are no concrete links connecting Thomas with any sides, leaving his immediate future uncertain. Though few Leicester supporters will lose any sleep over his potential departure.
