Leicester City supporters have handled the previously nightmarish couple of years and uncertainty with a degree of patience that deserves recognition. The King Power executives have arguably run the club into the ground; potentially leaving them with just one year to implement a genuine revival.

Other clubs and bosses would likely have incurred a far harsher wrath from a disenfranchised fan base; they essentially avoided a riot or the mass refusal to purchase season tickets. Yet, as aforementioned, Jon Rudkin and chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha will only be afforded one further campaign to change their ways before being forced out - one way or the other.

Although this outlet does not condone threats nor violence, reports suggest Rudkin finds it increasingly uncomfortable walking the city, a clear indication of the volatile sentiment around LE2 and beyond. In a move that has left many scratching their heads, the Foxes chiefs have chosen the vilified and floundering Russell Martin to run the show in 2026/27. Okaaay.

Though some observers consider the former Southampton, Rangers, Swansea City and MK Dons gaffer a League One coup, in actuality he is a rather expensive gamble. Martin once famously won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, and Top and the rudderless Rudkin have effectively thrown all their Leicestershire farm eggs into his dilapidated basket.

Leicester City optimism

The club remains one of the larger entities in the third tier; with an apparent £10 million war chest earmarked for new signings, they are viewed by many pundits as early favourites for promotion. Hopefully this ostensible and significant investment is managed with more prudence than in previous years of this administrative decline.

The upcoming season represents a definitive juncture for the club, where the only acceptable outcome for the faithful is an immediate return to the second tier. To that end, what are the odds?
