Things have been moving a bit slowly on Filbert Way of late, leaving the restless Blue Army to ponder the current state of the East Midlands institution. This protracted silence leads the stressed fan base to two separate, equally troubling conclusions regarding the club's trajectory.

First of all, the LCFC hierarchy might perhaps still be imprudent, incompetent and profoundly unqualified to manage a 'professional' outfit. On the other hand, a more measured and patient approach may have been achieved behind the scenes to secure long-term stability.

This writer's guess would certainly lie with the initial indifferent reality. However, other quite scary factors are coming into play, such as the team's diminished standing and lure in a competitive market and competition sense.

Leicester City preseason fixtures

Can City even arrange the type of prestigious preseason fixtures they once commanded in years past? To be fair, aside from the final practice match (which was typically against decent European opposition) Leicester's opponents during the offseason are usually rather mediocre.

With only a few ex-stars and letdowns exiting due to expiring contracts, no significant signings or otherwise, nor sales, the King Power owners must expedite their plans soon enough. At least one aspect is becoming clearer and more organised: the two friendly games for supporters to anticipate and finally mark in those blue diaries.

Firstly, the LE2 outfit start with a noncompetitive clash against League One side Northampton Town. That fixture will take place at 'the LCFC Training Ground in Seagrave' on Saturday, July 11, at 12pm; a limited number of tickets shall reportedly be available shortly.

"Ticket details for both games will be confirmed in due course, along with details of further pre-season fixtures."

Burton Albion is the subsequent encounter scheduled for the squad. Leicester will travel to the Pirelli Stadium for a 1pm kick-off on Saturday, July 18. The Brewers and Foxes are preparing for an upcoming campaign in the same division for a maiden time.
