Leicester flop to seal imminent loan transfer with option to buy

At long last, some of the unwanted, overpaid and frankly underperforming players who have helped drag Leicester City down are being moved on. It is a necessary cull that many supporters have been clamouring for at least throughout the recent turbulent period of transition at the East Midlands club.

In some cases, as with now-former LCFC starlet Jeremy Monga and his move to Manchester City, along with the reported developments regarding the dishonoured Harry Winks and his upcoming Cagliari transfer, the Foxes hierarchy are successfully recouping much-needed funds. These departures represent a strategic recalibration: moving away from past recruitment errors toward a leaner, more sustainable squad model whilst lesser revenue is made.

On the other hand, the Leicester Blue Army fan base are hoping that soon-to-be loanees with options to buy do not mess up their auditions in the manner Wout Faes did at AS Monaco. There is a palpable anxiety that these players might return to King Power Stadium if they fail to impress abroad, effectively stalling the club's efforts to fully clear the decks of unwanted dross and those who disrupt or negatively influence.

Other squad members, or now ex-LCFC personnel, were released or allowed to exit without a fight as well, signalling a decisive end to their time in LE2. Meanwhile, a significant bid must transpire before the club's ownership allows Abdul Fatawu to switch teams.

The Ghana man possesses an apparent £30 million release clause, though the Leicestershire side will likely accept a lower fee than that for obvious reasons, given the necessity to balance the books. Elsewhere, Victor Kristiansen is also a gonner; he never truly fitted in during his tenure in Leicestershire.

Victor Kristiansen gets his move from Leicester City

The Dane's overall output appeared to lessen in each and every Leicester match he competed in, making his departure feel somewhat inevitable. Thankfully, Danish reporter Farzam Abolhosseini, who writes for sports outlet Tipsbladet and hosts a transfer-focused podcast on Podimo, has provided clarity regarding the left back's immediate future.

"Victor Kristiansen is today undergoing a medical check in Italy ahead of the move from Leicester City to Panathinaikos. The Greek powerhouse is getting him on a season-long loan deal and also has a purchase option on the Dane, who on Monday will be available for Jacob Neestrup."

The reporter, who is widely recognised for providing reliable behind-the-scenes insights into international player transfers, has confirmed that Kristiansen is undergoing a medical in Italy today ahead of signing for Panathinaikos. The Greeks have successfully arranged a season-long loan deal which includes an option to purchase the defender permanently.

If all goes to plan, the administrative formalities are set to be finalised by Monday. Potentially bringing a swift conclusion to an underwhelming chapter for both player and club.
