Leicester has been twiddling its thumbs all summer, making an awful first impression to new manager Marti Cifuentes. They have signed virtually nobody of note, and we're now in the final hours of transfer deadline day.
At the time of writing this, Leicester has two hours to make signings. Otherwise, they can call this transfer window an absolute disgrace. Fans would have every right to feel their blood boil, as that's exactly how it's felt to this point.
A key signing that Leicester could have made between the sticks has now fallen through, but in many ways, no Leicester fan should be surprised by this.
Leicester fails to sign Jonas Omlin - It's their own fault
According to Bundesliga expert Florian Plettenberg, Leicester's potential deal for Jonas Omlin has collapsed. It remains to be seen why it collapsed but, in his own words, Plettenberg said: "Jonas Omlin – move to Leicester City collapsed. He will stay at Borussia Mönchengladbach."
Cruel, blunt words from the Bundesliga expert.
However, Leicester fans didn't need this one sugarcoated. They saw it coming from a mile away.
The truth is that Leicester shouldn't expect other clubs to play into their risky strategy. Sure, the Foxes might feel like they have all the time in the world to make signings, but other clubs don't play by these same rules.
Gladbach could have had an easier time selling Omlin to Leicester, which was never off the cards. However, they can be forgiven for refusing to sell now, because it would leave no time to replace him, should the German club feel the need to do it.
Leicester has not covered itself in glory during the summer transfer window. They should walk out of this window with their head in their hands.
The good news is, though, we should be in for an eventful two hours now. The feeling is that Leicester needs to replace some of their key players, and with a limited amount of time to do so, it needs to happen fast and efficiently.
So, everything that Leicester isn't. It's a great sport, isn't it?
