The improbable odyssey of Leicester City's 2016 triumph remains an evergreen marvel, a cinematic defiance of logic that has long since ascended into the hallowed pantheon of sporting miracles. It was a season where the mundane was discarded in favour of the divine, a temporal anomaly where gravity seemingly ceased to apply to the inhabitants of LE2.

Yet, while the shimmering brilliance of the protagonists often commands the spotlight, history frequently overlooks the structural integrity provided by Danny Simpson. An underrated defender of that historic backline, Simpson's tenacity and positional discipline served as the bedrock upon which more flamboyant talents could flourish.

Leicester City icons ignored by King Power - but don't need them!

In a poignant turn of events, it appears the current custodians of The King Power International Group have somewhat detached themselves from the living pulse of that legendary squad; prompting Simpson to seize initiative. Driven by a desire to preserve the sanctity of their shared history, the former right back is orchestrating a rendezvous to rekindle the embers of their collective glory.

According to the man affectionately known as "Simmo", the enthusiasm for this congregation is universal, transcending the disparate paths taken since that golden May. The digital corridors of a dedicated WhatsApp group titled ‘Reunion 2026' are already buzzing with anticipation.

"We’re all still friends and have had chats about what we’re going to do for a reunion...I’ve been chatting with Riyad Mahrez,” Simpson said. “Hopefully we can all find the right time to get together and do something."

Simpson has confirmed the probable participation of the mercurial Riyad Mahrez, suggesting that the creative spark of their title-winning campaign remains undimmed by time. There is a palpable hope that the tireless N'Golo Kante will accompany him as well.

The ageless, iconised Jamie Vardy will also apparently grace proceedings. This rendezvous, while shielded from the voyeuristic gaze of the public, promises to be a sanctuary of shared memory. A quiet, private celebration of a feat that will echo eternally through the corridors of global football.
