The state of Foxes affairs
I sound like a broken record, but Leicester City still need to sign another capable centre forward. We all know it; Jon Rudkin, the Foxes director of football, is probably in the recruitment department right now blaming head of scouting, Martyn Glover. Money is an apparent issue too, so that means finding and polishing a raw gem is probably the direction the East Midlanders are heading in. One supposed target is now more frequently linked with the King Power club.
Evidently, as the days go on at the seemingly less dysfunctional LCFC, they seem increasingly likely to take a transfer punt on an inexpensive striker. The attacker in question has actually been compared to Jamie Vardy for one reason in particular. Will the Leicestershire side sign this 22-year-old goalscorer? And is he actually comparable to the infamous hitman?
Transfer punt appears probable as Leicester City consider striker gamble with Jamie Vardy overtones
At the moment, Leicester must rely on Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew to fire the goals to propel us back to the Premier League. That prospect does not fill me with confidence, to be frank. I'm not having a go, in the words of great thinker Karl Pilkington, I'm just being honest.
"Leicester City and Swansea City handed significant £2m boost in the hunt for Richard Kone"EFL Analysis
Journalists and outlets also agree on City priorities with the Blue Army fan base. The name most associated with coming to Leicester in order to fill Vardy's shoes is Richard Kone. I know, right!
"If City are only able to bring in one striker this summer, it would be a gamble to make Kone that man."Leicester Mercury
How can an English Football League One man be expected to succeed such a respected and decorated baller?! Ah, but the lower leagues is where similarities start. Either that or daydreaming football writers are merely thinking wishfully.
"...But there’s no player out there who could step up to the Championship and who feels like a spiritual successor to Vardy. It would be a romantic transfer of sorts, but also one that makes sense."Leicester Mercury
In actuality, Kone is quite prolific for Wycombe Wanderers. His valuation has dropped to £3 million too. That's an attractive price for LCFC; who are ostensibly currently the leading team in the chase for the Ivorian.
