Leicester City are due to kick off their first Championship clash of 2025/26 at King Power Stadium this coming Sunday afternoon. But, in true Foxes fashion, problems appear to have beset the already arranged fixture. However, for once, all the issues seem to stem from the supposedly visiting team. Is the East Midlanders' first match of the season against Sheffield Wednesday at risk of postponement, with a protest also set to take place at LCFC's stadium. Let's see what is being said.

Foxes preseason ends very well indeed

I don't want to get too carried away as Leicester City Football Club are still in partial crisis. Although the visit from the particularly troubled Owls makes us seem like a well-run outfit, to be fair.

All jokes aside, it is not nice to see a great old side like Wednesday in trouble due to worse management that we've seen on Filbert Way! Yet, certainly with respect to on-field activities, City have enjoyed a fairly fruitful offseason.

The Foxes' friendly schedule just ended versus Fiorentina in home victory. The Italians were beaten 2-0 thanks to goals from Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu. That result rounded off preseason with five wins in six outings overall. Not a bad omen going forward for LCFC.

As I previously alluded to, SWFC are in some bother at the moment. Again, the ownership's finances are said to be at fault. First of all, this is the third time the Wednesday players were paid late or not at all.

"The [Sheffield Wednesday] Trust has called on fans to delay entry to their seats until five minutes after kick-off, while a large banner will be displayed in "a visibly empty away end" at the King Power Stadium."

Their supporters have organised a spectacle at the King Power, seemingly endorsed by LCFC. Yet talk in the media concerns weather the game will go ahead this weekend or not. Leicester Mercury made the worrying comment below on Monday afternoon.

"There is growing concern within the EFL over whether Sheffield Wednesday will be able to play their first game of the season at the King Power Stadium"
