A worrying and completely damning Leicester City statistic has emerged regarding the Foxes' misfiring front line. And it has really put things into perspective. As a side note, LCFC fans have no problem whatsoever with any of the characters or personas belonging to the three main, respective attackers on Filbert Way. This is business - not personal!
Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew and even Julian Carranza appear to be likable professionals who desperately wish to succeed in front of goal. They have just, sadly, failed to do so. Therefore what concerns Leicester's Blue Army fan base is merely having somebody appropriate to put the ball in the back of the net!
Simple, eh? Well no, actually, unfortunately there is no easy fix for the East Midlanders in this instance. Funding is a problem for the King Power outfit: even if they have money to spend, adhering to Profit and Sustainability is mandatory. Not to mention that The King Power International Group (LCFC ownership) are said to have financial issues anyway!
In addition to that, the January market is notoriously difficult or expensive to navigate. In the meantime, not one specialist striker stands out from the youth teams as ready to make the jump. Jake Evans may eventually be the one; he's also a competent or prefered winger, I'm led to believe.
All this means Leicester may have to make signing a new striker their priority for the New Year. Some outlets are tipping them to do so; boss of the Foxes, Marti Cifuentes, also indicated that additions are a possibility. Let's hear what's been claimed:
A new striker for Leicester City?
First of all, let's see what The72 suggest:
"[Leicester's three centre forwards have scored a total of] Two goals across 40 appearances... As January nears, LCFC must be making a new striker signing their undoubted top priority."
Secondly, here is Cifuentes:
"The reality as a football club is that every time there is a window, there’s an opportunity to try to improve and that’s always the mindset. We’re at the early stages on that but we always plan."
Thirdly, the general understanding in fan groups such as ours is that City must sell in order to buy. But genuine experts in the media haven't ruled either situations out; selling Daka to fund other purchases is the frequently suggested option.
