A large majority of plugged-in members of Leicester City's Blue Army fan base believe midfielder Hamza Choudhury has outstayed his welcome on Filbert Way. A combination of mediocre performances over several years across multiple clubs (including his temporary spells which included Sheffield United) paired with an occasionally overly aggressive playing style and off-field behavioural concerns has left many Foxes fans feeling that his time at the club has run its course.
I can attest to the fact that many supporters want Choudhury gone, having seen countless such remarks across fan channels and social media; I count myself among those who advocate for his departure. Even so, few people in Leicestershire actually wish genuine bad luck on a player who has been part of the organisation since his early childhood.
The Loughborough-born footballer clearly shares a deep, long-standing connection with the King Power outfit and does appear fully committed to the LCFC cause, even if his contributions on the pitch have often fallen short of expectations. A tenacious, hard-tackling midfielder who rose through the youth ranks to become a first-team regular, Choudhury's rise was built on work-rate and loyalty rather than outstandout technical quality.
What's next for Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury?
The 28-year-old Bangladesh international had been heading for a move to Midlands rivals Derby County after the two clubs reached a full agreement over the transfer. That deal, however, has been dramatically hijacked by the Blades at the last minute; he spent the second half of the 2024–25 season on loan.

Choudhury has now opted to return to Bramall Lane instead of Pride Park, and is currently undergoing a medical before finalising a contract to complete the switch. While his exit may feel overdue to most City supporters, it marks the end of an era for a homegrown figure who will always carry a piece of the club in his identity.
