Abdul Fatawu has now officially departed Leicester City after a rollercoaster journey with the club.
The Ghanaian attacker will mostly be remembered for his moments of magic during the 2023/24 season when Enzo Maresca's Foxes triumphantly won the Championship title, with Fatawu chipping in with a sublime six goal and 13 assists.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all smooth sailing for the 22-year-old across his 100-game stay, as the 2024/25 season in the Premier League saw him encounter nasty luck with injuries.
Moreover, last campaign, he couldn't do enough to spearhead the Foxes out of the relegation zone, with the Midlands giants now occupying an unwanted spot in League One.
He will hope he doesn't have yet another relegation on his CV come the end of his debut Premier League season with Ipswich Town, as he has spoken of his excitement to prove himself in the elite division under Gary O'Neil's guidance.
Gaining around £20m in the sale, Leicester will be pleased that they didn't sell Fatawu for a cut-price, despite their lowly status in League One.
They will need to hold their nerve with another prized asset, as reports are suggesting that he could be available for a slashed cost.
The next sale after Fatawu
Indeed, Football Insider is speculating that West Ham United is keen on welcoming in Leicester centre-back Ben Nelson to their ranks this summer, as they rebuild from their own relegation woes.
The report states that the Hammers will look to exploit Leicester's demotion to League One by going in for several of their star players, including the 6-foot-5 defender.
They will hope they can come to a cut-price solution, so they don't have to break the bank, according to Football Insider, with Nelson's valuation coming in at around the £10m-£12m range.
West Ham aren't the only interested club in Nelson's services, so the Foxes must hold out and wait for whatever club is willing to cough up the millions they desire.
Leicester must hold out for more money
At 22 years of age, Nelson is a very promising future centre-back, like Fatawu still has lots more to give as a young winger, himself.
The Northampton-born defender is being considered by the likes of Sunderland, Manchester United, and Torino this summer, with Italian clubs loving a look at the Foxes' defensive ranks, as Harry Souttar is allegedly on the Cagliari shopping list.
If West Ham aren't willing to fork out £10m or thereabouts, surely the Black Cats or the Red Devils would be willing to gamble, like Ipswich splashing out £20m or so on Fatawu, with both clubs big spenders in recent memory.
This summer so far, Sunderland have been linked with a mega money move for Floran Balogun, while United have flexed their muscles winning Youri Tielemans.
Therefore, spending around £10m will feel like pocket money, as Nelson possibly wins himself a big Premier League switch, like Fatawu.
Once noted as being of the calibre of the top-flight by Gary Rowett, who strangely managed the up-and-coming colossus at both Oxford United and at the King Power, Nelson cannot be sold for peanuts this summer, even if that means being patient for a suitor to dig deep into their pockets.
