Leicester City may be without a team manager at the moment, but that hasn't stopped preparations for the upcoming season. Even though Ruud van Nistelrooy was sacked on Friday morning, the Foxes are plotting a free transfer signing. An ex-England defender is the player in question. Can the East Midlands side pull off this deal before other clubs get wind of their plans? Let's see.
Manager incoming at King Power Stadium?
Some outlets suggest City are already seriously considering attempting to open talks with once Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche, and that he is indeed open to the move. While other media sources say Dyche wouldn't consider joining the Filbert Way outfit.
Danny Rohl is the only other name so strongly linked with a switch to Leicestershire from Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium. In spite of Rohl having a very slight contract release clause, reportedly it may be too rich for LCFC. Dyche is expected to demand rather high wages as well.
Regardless of having decisions or even negotiations yet to begin at Leicester, they are the two standout and most frequently mentioned contenders for the Foxes position. If you want my forecast, it seems to me as there is another twist to come which will see Rohl appointed as the latest LCFC gaffer.
Leicester City plot to sign ex-England on free transfer
Even with nobody permanent leading the squad with a friendly to play on July 5 versus Peterborough United, City still seek new recruits for 2025/26. Not having a manager certainly won't stop a seemingly determined but often misguided club like LCFC from investing.
"Leicester City are plotting a move to sign Everton defender Michael Keane on a free transfer when his contract expires later this month."Football Insider
Toffees centre back Michael Keane is the most recent target to be mentioned as connected with a transfer to the Foxes. And he is, luckily, available for free. Keane is someone I would have been unsure on for the Premier League; for the Championship he could be ideal.
