The point of mid-January has now passed; this means Leicester City Football Club are seemingly behind the pack again in another area that really matters. The active transfer market provides an opportunity for the Foxes to bolster a team which is flailing when considering its ambition of automatic or Playoff promotion.

In addition to looking at what Leicester could have done differently this month, or could have done better without the dreaded indecision element, there is more LCFC business to dissect. First of all, it is time to take a look at two starlets City boss Marti Cifuentes could perhaps call upon to help the side. They are Will Alves and Sammy Braybrooke.

Secondly and prior to examining King Power recruitment's state of play, standout players are on the agenda. Jordan James and Abdul Fatawu are typically vying for that acclaim on Filbert Way. However, another significant baller has staked a claim of late.

Loan star returns to action

Alves has been on keen City supporters' radars for a few years now. Many of you will recall hearing his name mentioned a while back. He suffered a layoff of approximately four months due to a foot injury.

The 20-year-old was a shining light in the Huddersfield Town lineup as they dismantled Rotherham United 3-0 in the English Football League Trophy on Tuesday. Alves netted a goal and was instrumental in the clash.

"Will Alves showed what he can do and what Leicester City could get back in the summer with a goal and an influential performance in Huddersfield’s 3-0 win over Rotherham."
Leicester Mercury

With a No.10 or a playmaker wanted in Leicestershire, recalling the LCFC Academy graduate is a viable option. Yet Leicester Mercury expect him to simply come back in the summer.

Leicester City Player of the Month for December up for division award

Bobby De Cordova-Reid is one of few to stand up and be counted this season:

"With four goals in six games, meanwhile, De Cordova-Reid had a prolific December for Leicester as he scored in three successive matches.

The winner [Championship award for Dec'] will be announced on Friday, 16 January."

Missed transfer opportunities

Apparent Foxes target Lyndon Dykes has moved to Charlton. Meanwhile Leicester are likely to miss out on Wilson too amid Celtic and Saudi Arabian interest.

"According to The Daily Telegraph, there is an expectation that the former Newcastle forward could be allowed to depart after Saturday’s game against Tottenham.

In a blow to the likes of Celtic and Everton – both of whom have been linked with Wilson – the forward is likely to receive offers from Al-Shabab and other sides in the Middle East.

The report adds that Wilson could even be in that part of the world as early next week to discuss a move to a new club based in that region.
