A similarly sluggish second half showing from Marti Cifuentes' slapdash and slovenly Leicester City side was the cause of their downfall in the Midlands derby versus Coventry City on Saturday lunchtime. Miraculously, this mismatched bunch of Foxes managed to go ahead at the Sky Blues' Coventry Building Society Arena. One of the rare success stories of the season Jordan James (possibly along with other players amongst the collective who have advanced themselves such as Jeremy Monga and Ben Nelson) put the visitors ahead.
Though the generally deserved LCFC lead was crossed out just a couple of minutes after the break had concluded. Following that pretty bad goal to concede, the King Power club, and chiefly left back Luke Thomas, conspired to let an even worse howler pass Jakub Stolarczyk. Dear oh dear, City. This is déjà vu upon déjà vu: a totally unacceptable English Football League Championship table position coupled with disorderly and, frankly, apathetic displays in one half of football.
Evidently, and rather typically, this uneven and latterly awful defensive display has not gone unnoticed by Leicester's Blue Army fan base. The main focus of their anger and frustration was, of course, the manager. The former Queens Park Rangers head coach has failed to properly motivate or organise his men once again. Many supporters of the LE2 team also now seemingly want the chairman (Aiyawatt "Khun Top" Srivaddhanaprabha) to sell up and leave. Not to mention Thomas taking the brunt of the squad's negative attention for his atrocious defending.
Thses are the Leicester City losers from the Coventry City debacle - which Foxes ultimately let the side down?
Leicester Mercury were almost generous in their rating of Thomas at '4'. Captain Ricardo Pereira was handed a 5.
"Ricardo Pereira: He made some excellent tackles, including one in the middle when Nelson was beaten by a long ball, but there were other times where Mason-Clark sprinted clear of him, while he also made some lazy passes as he grew more tired. 5"
Meanwhile Jordan Ayew and Stepy Mavididi only managed 5s too. Substitutes Patson Daka and Monga received the same scores respectively.
