Oh dear, oh dear. That's now two losses in one week in the Championship division for Marti Cifuentes and his not particularly merry band of men. As a matter of fact, LCFC's defeats to Hull City along with Millwall (both away from home, to be fair as a side note) transpired within a week.
Prior to that, with an unfortunately timed international football hiatus sandwiched in between, the Foxes actually defeated Swansea City in Wales. That isn't an easy feat in actuality; the victory gave the Blue Army what is now being described as false hope.
I must admit, I'm still backing Cifuentes in some capacity. Why? Well, a 103 day tenure isn't exactly enough time for a manager to stamp his authority on any team in my view. The Catalan also never had a fair opportunity for a whole preseason or to truly dive into the transfer market for his own permanent signings. Nevertheless, it ain't good! But which City players let the side down versus the Lions?
Leicester City losers from the Millwall game
Cifuentes' side held slightly more possession, and mustered a couple more shots than the Bermondsey outfit on Saturday. Though something is missing from the Leicester XI; it is certainly devoid of a capable spark up front.
According to Leicester Mercury's player ratings, quite a few Foxes unfortunately let the side down. First of all, I've got to say that it is time to drop Luke Thomas: he's just not up to standard, is counterproductive and offers a minimum going forward. He received a pitiful score of '3' from the outlet.
"Luke Thomas: He actually started the game well. He had the right idea with his passing and stood up to Azeez. But it quickly turned sour as his winger kept getting in behind, including for the goal, where he held off Thomas far too easily. The full-back then lost his composure, giving up possession for the penalty and sending simple passes out of play. 3"
Slightly surprisingly, typically safe midfielder Harry Winks was handed a 4. The front line of Abdul Fatawu, Jeremy Monga and Jordan Ayew got 4s all round too. Meanwhile substitutes Stephy Mavididi and Julian Carranza were attributed the same unacceptable rating.
