An unusual game developed on Monday on Filbert Way as Leicester City Football Club entertained Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion. Either team could have won the match in reality. And, if I am totally honest with our readership - neither side really deserved to be victorious last night (Monday, January, 5).

Bad news also arrived for the Leicestershire outfit in the form of a negative transfer update. Former West Ham United hero Michail Antonio won't be joining Leicester at present, sadly. You can read more about that situation here, following manager Marti Cifuentes' update. Along with the boss's expectations for a separate centre forward signing.

Anyway, all that mattered on the pitch to the Blue Army faithful was that City were eventually triumphant as WBA succumbed to a late, great goal from LCFC's star winger Abdul Fatawu. As a matter of fact, the Foxes should have put the clash far beyond the baggies' reach prior to the Ghana international's stunning, first-time volley. Wideman and substitute on the night Stephy Mavididi couldn't pick out Fatawu or fellow sub Patson Daka for another tap-in or high percentage opportunity the match's death.

Though I am probably being picky there - as is the neurotic perfectionist's way. Another outlet that has to be punctilious about the East Midlands side is Leicester Mercury. Here, we typically peruse their Player Ratings in order to properly assess the City squad.

The Leicester team actually did quite well to shed these underperforming shackles they've been bound by. With less support and noise in the ground, beating WBA was technically a harder slog.

Which Foxes stood out? Man of the Match Jakub Stolarczyk (9) did standout; yet still made quite a few errors. Ricardo Pereira somehow got a '7' in spite of not seeming himself in my opinion. Bobby De Cordova-Reid got the same. Though others were poor:

"Jordan James: The run and awareness for the Ayew goal was excellent and another sign of a very promising midfielder. But he just didn’t do much beyond that, and also gave the ball away cheaply at times. 5"
LCFC Live
"Hamza Choudhury: He was strong in the 50-50s early on and got forward well, but then he started dozing. He switched off twice and needed Stolarczyk to bail him out. 4"
"Ben Nelson: He lost the ball for one dangerous West Brom attack early on and his failure to intercept the pass into Heggebo was fatal in the Baggies goal. He did fine otherwise and was decent on the ball. 5"
