On Saturday afternoon, Ipswich Town arrived at King Power Stadium for an English Football League Championship clash. Many assumed that this would be a kind of top of the table contest due to the two sides being relegated from the Premier League last season. But England's tier two is a testing and difficult division to escape from.
Not that you'd have known that if all you knew of it was the East Midlanders' previous campaign in this particular league under current Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca. However, this is a very different term the LCFC team is involved in under latest head coach Marti Cifuentes. Though progress is finally being made.
Nevertheless, the King Power outfit only find themselves in eighth position in the Championship table. While Cifuentes' men were able to cut the gap between themselves and the Tractor Boys down to a slight three points after defeating them on Filbert Way this weekend. So let's get to the analysis and discover what the media thought of the City performance. Not to mention how the squad was scored in Leicester Mercury's Player Ratings.
The winners and any losers from Leicester City's victory over Ipswich Town - which Foxes who stood out, and who let the side down if anyone did?
First of all, let's begin with the Leicester defence and goalkeeper. Worryingly, Jakub Stolarczyk's mistake when conceding earned him a score of '5'. Ricardo Pereira (8), Jannik Vestergaard (9) and Luke Thomas (8) were standouts.
Oliver Skipp and Jordan James (both 8s) were excellent on the day. Unbelievably, and quite encouragingly when thinking about the starting XI at large, Abdul Fatawu (9) wasn't the sole Man of the Match here.
After scoring from what is said to be 70 yards, someone else must have massively impressed! It was Vestergaard who shared the award.
"Jannik Vestergaard: Colossal. Fatawu’s astounding goal may overshadow just how good the big Dane was. He protected the City goal with his life, throwing his head at every cross and making a few brave blocks, flying in to avert danger. He was composed on the ball to boot. 9"
Bobby De Cordova-Reid had another good game. As did Jordan Ayew; both were rated as respective 8s.
