Leicester City are reportedly set to lose out on what may have been their first signing of 2025/25. The apparent target is said to be eyeing a transfer to Rangers of Glasgow instead of heading to the King Power.

The transfer window has been open for a good while now, even after a brief hiatus for the Club World Cup. Nevertheless, Leicester City have not entered the market even though they must add to their squad. Sales are yet to materialise for the East Midlands team too. Now that manager Marti Cifuentes has arrived, surely some movements in and out of King Power can be expected.

Although, the Foxes won't be getting their hands on one apparently wanted man in particular. The Leicestershire side are supposedly set to lose out on a potential first signing to Rangers, who are also said to want the target. So which prospect were LCFC targeting exactly? Was he an appropriate proposed addition to the squad? Is he heading to Scotland? And who might City go for instead?

Leicester City might be about to be beaten to first signing by Rangers

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was a previous target for Leicester, according to reports back in 2023. Ultimately he didn't go to Filbert Way, temporarily moving to Charlton Athletic from Crystal Palace. Now he is leaving the Eagles.

The winger was impressive on loan at Sheffield United last season. This has ostensibly reignited interest from many outfits. Among them are LCFC, the Gers and Southampton.

Rak-Sakyi might have been a suitable acquisition for the Foxes, especially in the Championship. Though he is angling for a switch to Scotland, as per this piece.

To be honest, with Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, Jordan Ayew, Jeremy Monga and Kasey McAteer on board, the last thing Leicester require is another wideman. We must secure a central striker quickly, and integrate him even faster!
